Residential Service Technician
Are you a hands-on problem solver who enjoys fixing things and helping people? Fawley Overhead Door in Portage, MI, is looking for a skilled Service Technician to join our team. This role offers a competitive hourly wage of $21–$26 plus commission, along with excellent benefits and a supportive work environment where your technical expertise can shine.
As a Service Technician, you’ll provide high-quality service, maintenance, and repairs for residential and commercial overhead doors. You’ll interact with customers daily throughout our service areas, so strong communication and customer service skills are essential. Ideal candidates will have experience with power tools and a basic understanding of electrical systems. Sign-On Bonus: Up to $5,000 available for experienced garage door technicians.
Total Compensation: $21–$26/hour + commission + profit sharing bonus checks.
Responsibilities
- Perform site inspections and calculate installation openings for larger jobs
- Arrive at scheduled appointments within the designated time window
- Participate in all workplace activities and follow company policies and safety regulations
- Use company software to take notes, prepare quotes, and send invoices
- Conduct thorough system inspections, diagnose issues accurately, and provide customers with clear service options
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong communication, listening, and teamwork skills
- Basic understanding of electrical circuitry and connections
- Proficient with hand tools and power tools
- Solid math and problem-solving abilities, including accurate measuring skills
